Visual Mantra
Acrylic and Watercolor on Canvas
More than any other traditional media, work in acrylic on canvas allows the artist to capture and transform images from her meditations into visual symbols. Originally perceiving these to be artistic inspiration in abstract subject matter, she has come to acknowledge clear receptivity to images during meditation. She has practiced regularly over the past 30 years.
The first set of symbols, painted in 1973, represented connecting the personal will, life force and life expression to the center of compassion, the heart. (set of three abstract images, white background)
The next set of four images, given within months of the Harmonic Convergence, engage us in awakening human consciousness. It was during this time that she was inspired by powerful energies of nature and became committed to a cruelty free diet, recognizing the connection between herself, humanity, and all creatures of the earth. In 2006, during a powerful astrological period of eclipses, paintings representing the realignment and refining of Masculine and Feminine principles, as expressed through humanity were given.
A work currently in progress, dedicated to the great racing filly, Ruffian, expresses the balancing of masculine and feminine energies on the earth and the role of horses in that critical alignment.
