Photography

Alicia Nation's passion for horses brought her full circle in a renewed interest in photography, a treasured artistic expression.

As student of black and white darkroom photography during college, she exhibited her work in various east coast venues.

After experiencing chronic fatigue syndrome and environmental illness, chemical exposures in darkroom work became impossible and long jaunts into the wilderness on photo shoots became impractical.

Horses have enabled her to reconnect with the natural world, its mysteries and magical imagery. Equally magical is the participation of her horses.  On various occasions they detoured over to particularly extraordinary vistas that she would have otherwise missed or voluntarily stopped at awesome views waiting for her to capture the scene.

Climbing a mountain on horseback and sharing the moment with her equine partners is a thrill.  The view of the world from the saddle is a revelation. More than that, the view of the world through the eyes of a horse is a revelation.   Alicia holds a MS Ed. in Media Communications.
